Working party for the bees

Having had overwhelming support at the AGM, for which we want to thank all you enthusiastic plotholders, we can’t wait to get going with building an apiary at Court Lane Allotments. We are proposing to make a start on the fencing this Easter weekend, so if anyone wants to help out, please turn up. Sunday and Monday are the most likely days (weather permitting), but keep an eye out for people working in the Community Orchard area anytime this weekend. Please pitch in. The more the merrier!

Court Lane Allotments Shop

We have decided to open the doors to the plot’s shop to the general public. We want to encourage people to buy gardening supplies from us at rather reasonable rates and to speak to us about growing your own produce no matter what size garden you may have.

Any money made will be used to buy more stock and to maintain the allotment plots as Birmingham City Council’s need to save money means that we have to create income to keep the allotments going.

The shop will be open on Saturday and Sunday only from 11am to 3pm. The gates will be unlocked so feel free to come in and visit the shop. Due to retail laws in order to buy anything you will have to become a member of our association but at only £1 for a life membership we think it’s a right bargain.

We have managed to get some local press from the Sutton Coldfield Observer and Julie, the plots Chairperson has done rather fine publicity for us.  Please do come and pay us a visit and support our little foray into retail.

Allotment AGM Sunday 28th March 2010 @ 12 noon

Calling all plotholders! We will be having our Annual General Meeting on Sunday 28th March 2010 at 12 noon in the Community Garden area.

All plotholders are welcome to come along and make their opinions count. We are always looking for new ideas as to how we can improve the site.

Hope to see you all there.
